I think by teaching them how to open up to people about their challenges, trying to lead them in the direction of self-reflection and self-acceptance, with the goal of encouraging them to strive to be the best version of themselves, they may understand that sex is not some ultimate reward for beating the game of romance, but rather a deep expression of intimacy and love between two people who dearly love each other.
I don't think most of these people are beyond help. They just seem to be very lost in a very lonely and dreary state of mind.
