It is now, but there's no reason for it to be so in the future. It's just cultural decay from the post-war period when food was scarce so many meals were simplified and shittier than they would have been. And then the freezers and supermarkets came with premade meals, and your culinary tradition got jewed.

But you can still fix that shit. You just need to care. However, it seems that in todays society, not caring is a virtue.

Food in uk can be very hit n miss. I went to London on vacation and ate in a classic pub n the food there was good depending what you order. I guess my biggest bitch is food service quality. I ate a pot pie from a food stall and they gave it to me in a cardboard box with fucking wooden culture.

Don't get your understanding of "British Quisine". Most ppl in this country just microwave a TV dinner and that's usually a shitty Chinese or a curry.

I can at least speak for the middle class. We have our 5 a day. My 2 meals today was Muslei for breakfast (fruit & nut), no lunch, then 2 grilled fresh tuna steaks, peas, asparagus and some waitrose own-brand chips. Lightly dressed with a pinch of rock salt imported from Spain, and a splash of Japanese sushi vinegar. Fucking delicious lots of green vegetables.
