People never change, that's the funny thing. Technology changes, but people stay very much the same - I mean sure, we get a little taller over time due to natural selection, but apart from that we stay very much the same, especially in terms of our character. Which makes perfect sense when you realise that human character is really not that different from the character of animals. We're slightly more intelligent but we're still entirely flawed and stupid.
There's a reason the ruling classes of the Western nations for the last few hundred years always read the classics - Greek literature and Roman literature, which predated them by 1,500 - 2,000 years. Because they realised that even the ancient civilisations knew about the foibles of man, and documented them very well.
