Second, uni or school doesn't teach things for "life". They do it to make specialists for economy, or for the state's other goals (raising you as a useful goy and giving you convenient picture of the world).
Third, yes math sucks. If you aren't in purely STEM fields, that likely won't be useful for your life directly.
BUT. As a side effect, math trains you to use cold hard logic, rational thought, and abstract thinking. You might not realize it, but it gives you a universal problem solving approach, which is argumentative and consecutive instead of "it feels like it". And it's quite a lot.
