The thing is that Palestinians themselves are not Arabs, despite what they like to claim, but they're a mixture of ethnic groups that dominated that land: Hebrews, Romans, Greek, Persian, Arab, etc.
I wouldn't say that Palestinians are French tho, since the French Domination lasted for only few decades.
