Vegeta fought hard against the androids but was just badly outclassed.
He fought hard against Cell but also allowed him to fully transform instead of killing him when he could.
Vegeta nuked himself trying to kill Buu though he was also arguably the main reason he got released in the first place.
Later on he fought very hard against Kid Buu, risking permanent annihilation so Goku could finish him. Pretty gutsy. Though he also destroyed the potara earing which could have allowed them an easy win potentially.
In general though I am not sure saying he didn't pull his weight makes much sense.
He did alot in almost every arc in one way or another when it came to keeping the z fighters alive, fighting the enemy forces, stopping the enemies plans and helping defeat the enemies.
The only big critique is that he let his ego get in the way of potentially stopping Cell & Buu much earlier on (Killing Bobdi/Potara fusion) and maybe some other shit im forgetting
