Trust me, I had professors in college I couldn't even understand, but I still tried and I passed. When I couldn't understand something I just went to youtube and watched math videos until I improved. Honestly though video games and anime, I met two of my friends from steam once I learned they lived in the same state as me and we go to anime conventions every year and participate in fighting game tournaments during the summer. I recommend finding chatrooms based of certain games and anime you like. They aren't obsessed of course, but it can lead to more if you're willing to put the effort into it.
