Off the top of my head the main problems with computer games nowadays are:

• Micro-transactions/paid DLC
• DLC in general, would like to own the entire product when I buy. When physical copies were dominant, it was usually the case that there was like one or two extension packs and that was it
• Focus on multi-player ahead of single player
• Focus on style ahead of substance - less innovation in gameplay and more effort put into story and visuals
• Online gaming communities are generally pretty shit

These problems stem from the internet (which is ubiquitous now), corporate greed (understandable human nature) and data storage being so cheap now. These causes aren't going to go away so you can't do anything to fix the flaws really. Just play retro games instead

Some genres are intentionally designed to be geared towards multiplayer from the get-go, like fighters and racers.
