Of course there are still a lot of superficial Joy Division and The Cure fans out there. But how many people dig deeper into the history of the genres and try to discover new or lesser known bands?
When I try to talk with other millenials about old school 80s dark culture genres like Goth Rock, Industrial or EBM, they just assume I mean that cyber goth techno stuff or in the case of Post-Punk wannabe emo bands like Black Veil Brides. I know there are a lot of guys on the internet who like that stuff but little do I find people in real life who would even give post punk music a try.
