Here was my direct interpretation of OP's rules:

Damage is what you get as said in OP post, no doubling for 9 (where did you get that?), no fails other than 0. 0 means you hurt or debuff yourself in some way. The +1s from levels also apply to damage rolls. Doubles means the damage of the doubles + max roll.

For instance a level 4 player's max roll is 9+3=12, if they roll a 33 they deal 33+12=45 damage for their crit.

Honestly I was thinking about tweaking the damage system, writing/balancing some stuff I've done or seen others do in these threads, and making a secondary optional infographic for people who want some hard rules to go by. Other people could still interact on a more basic level in the threads. So far I just have an idea for training specific skills for additional +1s (it would take a lot of turns to do, more for each proficiency level) and a little stuff for Gardener.

I'll do what I can sempai, I'll write some stuff down and put up a pastebin when I have enough to be worth it. For now, combat roll system idea:

1-9 = that much damage (+1 per level like all rolls)
0 = hurt yourself in some way
dubs = The amount of damage you deal when you roll a 9 (9+bonuses) + the doubles themselves IF you have a level equivalent to the digit of the doubles, otherwise add doubles of your level. For instance a level 3 rolls a 55, they do 33+12 damage, but a level 6 rolls a 55, they do 55+15 damage, so that's the high-level advantage on crits. You still get the crit if it's too high for your level, but it's scaled down, essentially your maximum additional crit damage is your level * 11. Trips are same thing but you add three digits instead of two.

(For the runes, it was kind of complicated. Like right now I made up some of my own rules based on Deviatka's rules for studying tomes in the library, just finally succeeded for them, so now Deviatka will tell me whether or not the tome is aquamancy, then I decide how that helps with my aquamancy skill which I'm levelling with training/skill points which is different than the ice glyphs method Deviatka uses for the cryomancy. You just wing it. You are both a character and a storyteller.

Just as I lean out to look for some the ground, a large, blood red crow-like bird flies right in front of my face, straight up towards the skies. It crow soars through the sky, tumbles playfully with the winds, again and again. I watch it for what feels like hours.

Sephar lets out a joyful caw, before landing on the windowsill again.
"My liege."
This is the first time Sephar speaks since the blood crystal incident. It's voice - her voice, as it turns out, is like a song, melodic and clear like crystal - and obviously exited.

"These winds are strong, and full of magic. I can already feel all the magic in these lands. I know every sacred grove, every hidden temple, every alchemist's shop from here and beyond the horizon..." she pauses for a brief second, and tilts her head.
"... and I can tell you where they are, if that's your request. But these winds were made for me.. My king, why don't I take you there instead?"

Can you put a thing in about using success to train in skills? The system I'm using is all skills start at level 1 once you initially learn or think of them or start with them, and the modifiers are just like the main modifier and stack with the main modifier, but you have to devote that turn to training that skill or learning something about it/using it. Instead of 10 for each level, I'm using primes as the amount of turns needed per level, excluding the first five primes (0,1,2,3,5). So to get to level 2 of something and get a +1 modifier that will stack with your general modifier for it, you need 7 turns of using or training in it. To get to level 3 (+2) you need 11 more, 13 for level 4, 17 for level 5, 19 for level 6, 23 for level 7, so on...

It's working out pretty okay for me so far. Might be too complicated for the OP thing though, idk
