It's an easy way for them to push the problems the boards have to the side. It makes it seems like they take action even though they just move the shitty posts to another board. It also makes it possible for the jannys to do the most of the work, since making low quality posts doesn't count as a bannable offence anymore. Less bans, deleted posts and more imptrash to /bant/.

Because they want to alleviate /pol/ of all of it's off-topic threads by encouraging it over here so the board isn't nearly as fast or difficult to moderate. It's less them using /bant/ as a trashcan and more them trying to push /pol/shit over to /bant/, despite /pol/ wanting nothing to do with /bant/ and vice-versa. They were a bit too slow and a bit too late on their enforcement of that policy, so what they're doing does nearly jack-shit, and the threads they move here dies almost immediately.
