You're a novelty, and not a good one either. If you're going to live in East Asia, you're probably better off in South Korea due to US military presence. most of them don't speak any english but the shopkeepers know just enough to get by

I don't know much Korean but make a point of using their greetings and saying "thank you" in their language, which they seem to like.

There actually was a black samurai. Yasuke. He served under Nobunaga, and was a spectacle because of his dark skin and large stature.Iirc he wasn't treated badly, though that might have been because of his status. He didn't do anything too significant, but he helped fight nonetheless.
