As you know, I come from the barbarian north of Europe, and from the bottom of my heart I wish to make this post to thank the Mediterraneans for everything they have given us.
The first thing we didn't have in Northern Europe that you brought to us is tolerance. While you, in the Mediterranean area were tolerant of homosexuality for example, we in the north, didn't have that type of tolerance. We threw the homosexuals into bogs... first, we cut their throats, and smashed their heads, and hanged them, and threw their bodies into bogs... we didn't tolerate anything like that. But you guys, you brought the tolerance to Northern Europe. If it hadn't been for you, I'm sure we wouldn't have been as tolerant as we are today.
The second thing I wish to thank you for is of course the spread of civilization. Of course, you didn't invent that yourselves, you just copied what they had in the Middle East. Or maybe you emigrated from the Middle East to Europe and then built civilizations here, and then you spread it to the rest of Europe. By sword, I grant you that, by force, by deceit, okay, but you did. And if it hadn't been for you, we would not have been civilized today. We would have had just huge areas of untouched forests and wildlife, you know, who would want that when you can have civilization, right?
The next thing I'm going to thank you for: pornography. We didn't have pornography, you brought that to us. If it hadn't been for you, we would not have had pornography, and granted, we resisted this open positive force for a very long time. I don't think we even had pornography until the 19th century or something; that's how slow we are in the north! You had pornography for thousands of years, so thank you, you brought pornography to the rest of Europe and we appreciate it a lot.
