While some things might not apply to the States, I can tell you a few things that should be pretty general. I'll expand on any of the points if you want me to divulge further
1) The jury is always dumb as fuck, sometimes to the extent that I think they are purposefully selected to be so
2) Even interesting cases are boring as fuck
3) Most criminal lawyers are extremely incompetent and if they happen to be competent, they usually have no charisma, which makes them fall victim to point 1
