Haven't you ever seen someone defend a basic verifiably untrue statement to the bitter end? It has gotten worse as politics has polarized in the US.
Your definition of course also applies to the entirety of the alternative "news" media -- i.e. any outlet that does not issue corrections. Fox has been guilty of this many many times too.
