Losing my grandfather

This is 85% me fishing for attention and 15% genuine desu.
My grandfather is near death and I was just wondering if other anons have had this particular experience and how it all went. The good, the bad and the ugly is what I'm trying to ascertain. He has 7 sons/daughters all with different motives I suppose.
I'm worried a fracture between different members of my family is imminent but not sure, again sort of venting if that's OK.
Would love to hear any and all thoughts

my gramps has a bit of money and everyone is swarming him like vultures atm even in his weakened state, it's kind of shameful really

My grandfather died Fall 2017. I did not go to his funeral as I was preoccupied with School/Work/Band. I was alone for approximately a week while the rest of my family went away for the funeral and all that entailed. When I first heard the news, I was not immediately saddened. In fact, in the coming days, it came to my attention that I felt no grief at all. This disturbed me highly, and I was in much contrast to the rest of my ver emotional family. I felt bad that I never even shed a tear at his passing, but I guess that is just who I am. I suppose the world is worse off without him, and in his life he did do good things. I don't believe any of his offspring cared about his inheritance much, so I can't help with thoughts in that direction. Sorry for your loss, this ended up just talking about my own experience, but that is all i can think to contribute.

It's cool anon, in a way I understand.
He was a constant figure in my life, but since he was getting up in years he was cranky, angry, and sometimes downright hateful and miserable.
That being said, he also did his best given his advanced age, and I certainly have some great memories attached to him.
But that's simply the way of things I think. I can appreciate the man he was but not be thrilled about the cranky old coot he eventually became. But God willing if our health holds up that will be all of us eventually.
Anyway whatevs, I assume this will descend quickly into a kot thread but best of luck to all of you and your families out there.

ironically 3 of them were alcoholics and died from it

the last one used to have a problem and even got an embarrassing nickname for it

he had another heart attack last week, which is weird because he had his first one at 50 and now he's nearly 80
