Only 20% of males are ever going to be alpha. Additionally, we know from studying apes and other mammals (wolves, lions for example) that the females in most cases are sexually drawn primarily to the alpha. In Christian society we came up with the concept of monogamy (or rather Jesus Christ did you could argue) as a way to appease male aggression. However, no one considered whether it was actually biologically plausible. Females are still attracted and always will be to alpha males.
In a monogamous society there will naturally be alot of alpha-ish women paired with. These women will necessarily be unhappy in that way. Its not really their fault, nature designed them that way for some reason. Therefore they will natural dislike their spouse and probably cheat on him with an alpha if they get a chance. To them biologically, this would be a huge plus. After all their goal is to offspring with highly efficient genes not simply to pass on their genes like the bio goal of men.
Alot of people, including me, thought that monogamy was actually more beneficial for women then males. We thought of women as the ideal of virtue, humans who were pure and we were the horny ones who had trouble adhering to society. But this is not actually the case. It probably was like that for alittle while seeing women cling to tradition a little longer than men, but monogamy was probably designed solely for men - so that the 80% of us that are not alpha can reproduce.
As women become more and more liberated, the natural trend for them will not be away from monogamy and toward polygamy with the more highly masculine men in society. Additionally, seeing they have birth control, they don't even bother to think about the nurturing aspects of of the male they are attempting to perform coitus with as reproduction is not the problem.
