>>5499704Give Knights&Merchants a try if you haven't played it yet. Solid old school RTS and awesome sprites, Adam knows his shit.
And yeah, being a software dev (unless you end up with a code monkey career and maintain websites for the rest of your life) can get you to interesting places. 3 years ago I wrote a PC GUI for interacting with alcohol sensors. Microcontroller stuff, at first I had a hard time getting into it because it was a clusterfuck of C and ASM which I had to deal with, but it werks. Fucking hilarious to come home and open a beer, knowing that the software you wrote is used in breweries and labs all over the planet to check the quality of the alcohol they produce. Sorry for bragging, I'm drunk as fuck by now.
And thanks. Current project is still in baby shoes, we (my brother and me) managed to agree on the basic scenario and will probably spend the rest of the year fighting about which genre we want to go for, but it's fun. Current status is that I want to write a citybuilder or rts (which I'm gonna do anyways, but I let him give me some input) and he tries to persuade me to make a Mail Order Monsters Clone. Oh come on lil bro, mail order monsters was fun decades ago when we got that C64 but it just won't work nowadays.
