A news story during one of them riots in the states, and they had this black fella on the camera and they were asking him about it. This guy wasn't like the ones who were justifying the pillaging, he was upset about it. And the reporter says to him something along the lines of "well over in vancouver they did similar damage after losing a hockey game so many years ago"
And the black fella looks like he's been slapped in the face. He says, "I don't want my people to be moral compared to other people. I want them to be moral, period."
Now, I always thought that was good talk. It's a good point. To be moral is to be moral flatly, in my opinion, and not relative to others. But it never occurred to me until now how he felt when the reporter asked the question. I think I get that now. Which is good, because it's always good to find a bright side to an unpleasant situation.
