I really like this conundrum because it really does make sense, but it doesn't make any sense why it makes sense. I feel like it has to do with the speed and articulation of the letters - "k" is a sharp, high-pitched sound, not unlike a click, which we associate with hard surfaces and things like that, whereas "b" is common in onomotopeoia (spelling?) for stuff that's bouncy or round.
