>working at the animal control department
>nu-male comes in
>staggers around aimlessly for a few moments before he approaches the counter
>there was no line-up, but I could tell he wanted to be told to approach the counter for some reason
>tells me a story about a hobo he saw that looked mangy, doing drugs, basically a typical hobo
>I wonder where he's going with this
>then he mentions that this hobo has a dog and he thinks that if the hobo can't take care of himself, he can't be treating a dog well
>he volunteers to adopt the dog
>So, I say, you want to take this hobo's dog?
>he won't directly say yes to that question, but repeats his opinion on the dog's treatment
>do you have any proof of this mistreatment besides your suppositions?
>he repeats his theory again
>Well, sir, we're not in the business of stealing people's dogs
>he gets aggravated at my insinuating he is a thief and says that "maybe he'll just take the dog himself and I won't stop him because I'm a lazy asshole"
>You can do as you wish sir, but I wouldn't recommend taking man's best friend from someone with nothing to lose

heh, it sucks being an animal control officer, because I do see a lot of animals in pain, but the days like this, where I get to see stupid millenials in pain sure make the days better. And anyway, that hobo's dog is probably fine, people generally treat their pets way better than themselves. Near as I could tell from his story the only thing that hobo was guilty of was having a dog and being homeless. And doing heroin I guess but that's not my department.
