Back between 2001 and 2012, at least you could tell that they were a part of the culture that developed the memes they spouted. These days it just seems like faggots who got introduced to them via facebook or twitter or some shit and they thought "hmm, this is obscure and will make people think I'm interesting". They adopt the popular ones like smug frog avatar because of it's versatility and lack of attachment to the culture that created it then use it as a way to pretend they're a part of a group they don't understand.
