Second watch your alcohol intake, nothing sucks more than getting too fucked up and being unable to perform. I hit Soi Nana in Bangkok before I even attempted Pattaya.
I day drank and didn't mix drink, you should have been steering clear of liquor.
Bangkok is great because it has a TON of normal clubs, where you can pick up a normal Thai girl who isn't a hooker
Pattaya everything is along the beach basically, the club scene is a little more harried but not far from the gogo clubs, bars, etc.
I say more harried because alot more Westerners and Russians in said clubs, rowdier, but I still had no trouble picking up a Thai non-hooker. Westerners/Slavs are going to be a bigger potential threat in Pattaya - drunk idiots, etc - just be friendly, deescalate, don't criticize, remove yourself if they make a scene - etc
Stayed in a hotel in Pattaya that was like 80% full of Russians and banged a qt Russian chick.
Pattaya is also a bit more interesting in terms of hookers - there is more variety in a smaller space - slav girls, African's, Flip girls, the whole gamut but Bangkok by far had the best quality Thai hookers - ALWAYS MAKE SURE THEY ARE FEMALES, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TELL - unless you like traps i guess
