I recently decided I wanted to try learning Japanese and Spanish at the same time. Do you think this is a good idea anon? They’re very different so I don’t think I’d get them confused. And I definitely have the free time to attempt doing so.

That's the dumbest question I've heard in a while.
Are you desperate for responses or too high?
Learning two languages at the same time sounds like a bad idea.
But if you are fully capable and highly intelligent,
it's a fine idea.

I would just stick to one at a time though.

I’ve seen many people do it. I don’t think it’s that hard of a task at all except if the languages are both very similar, such as Chinese and Japanese (Kanji to be specific). While Spanish and Japanese are vastly different. The biggest example being, one is a bunch of symbols and the other has English letters.

Have you ever mastered any language beside English?
If so, learning two languages at the same time may be a good idea, because you already know what it takes to learn a language.

If you're capable of learning a language at a solid level then easily, two isn't even a lot to do. And it is similar to study languages that are different but I learned Spanish and Portuguese simultaneously with no problems

They are similar in the way stuff is pronounced, desu I have a much easier time trying to speak japanese than english

This, phonetically is easier for Spanish speakers to learn Japanese, Finnish, Italian, etc than English. Same reason It's easier to a Swedish guy to learn English or German

To be fair a swedish guy would also probably have an easy time learning spanish italian etc because they have a low number of distinct vowels and low number of consonant clusters.
