I managed by switching to swedish snus. Maybe you can find some in your area?* That finder is a POS though, I'd order a range. It makes it extremely boring and mundane, which makes it easier to quit.

Make a plan to quit and stick by it.
I never smoked as much as you but here's what I did.
>Smoked 7-10 cigs a day
>Decided to cut down
>First stabilize amount (7 a day)
>Second, cut back drastically (3 a day)
>Third, Cold Turkey with nicotine lozenges to help with cravings

As a side note, if you do have a cigarette, don't give yourself as an excuse to dive right back into the habit. I had one yesterday and it doesn't mean that I'm going to buy a pack today. Make a plan, control yourself, don't beat yourself up for failing occasionally.

Down from 2 packs/40 cigarettes to 2-3 a day. Typically with my lunch and post-supper glass of scotch.

Get a cheap briarwood pipe and high quality tobacco...it'll save you in the long run fiscally and it's very much a better head buzz.

If you're that addicted, you have other problems.

I smoke a pipe, the calm, flavor and nicotine high it brings makes cigs feel like smoking a paper roll of shit. It's fucking great on a calm and windless summer day out in the garden, but sometimes I just feel like I don't want to smoke, much like sometimes I feel like I don't want to drink or eat at times.

With you, it's obviously not the dependency with any substance, it's likely you're suffering from a psychological problem that is stifled by having something burn in your mouth.

It's a rare treat to me instead of a constant habit. Smoking a pack a day or more is like licking a soon of honey constantly. It loses it meaning. But two cigarettes a day feels just right.

i did but i have some bad news for you - quitting doesnt mean you eventually "heal" from cigarette addiction. the urges NEVER go away, even after years of abstaining. you will basically nic-fit for the rest of your life. its like tensing a muscle every second of everyday and never being able to relax it. the only way to truly quit is to never start
