Reddit (or literally any other site for that matter) is better if you're looking for well thought out posts and valuable information. You just have to filter it adequately, something you can't do in 4chan because threads go 404 eventually and have to be scouring among the garbage every single day to find anything valuable, whereas in any other forum good and valuable information threads are kept indefinitely, as it should be.
I don't go to reddit for information but literally any place is better for valuable info than 4chan. Blogs, forums, etc. The typical complaint that places without anonymity and/or that require registration inhibit sincere opinions due to group pressure is wrong since all forums practice compartmentalization to some degree: there is different sub-sections (or sub-reddits) where you can get the best for every point of view.
4chan's only redeeming quality is that it's a good place to get sincere opinions uninhibited from social pressure, and still you don't know what are the motivations behind such opinions. 4chan is a glorified chatroom.
