If I could give you one good advice, sunscreen would be it. Wear sunscreen.
Yes I know English will get you anywhere in the Netherlands without a problem, but you will never be fully assimilated without speaking the language.
Don't do the tourist things. Meet locals. Use Tinder, even if only to meet new people. There's a lot of expats living in the Netherlands, especially the Hague. Get to know them. Join Facebook groups. They have faced problems you will face as well.
Talking about these problems, The Netherlands is a bureaucratic shithole. Get a house doctor or GP, like you British call it. Seriously, if you have any ailment, you can only be helped at your pre-determined doctor. Don't be surprised if they send you to a hospital for something as simple as blood tests. Make sure you got this taken care of before you actually need a doctor.
Then look into some benefits you might be able to receive. If you study, you're likely to get a compensation for your rent. It's called huursubsidie. Worth looking into.
In case you want to take the train across the country, it's expensive. But it doesn't have to be: Here's a loophole. Find Facebook groups for NS Group Tickets to the Hague, do as they say. It cuts your travel expenses down from ~€50 to €7.
But trust me, on the sunscreen.
