>>591652>trying to ride the right-wing populist movement swelling in Europeno one is riding that wave in Romania, way too dangerous for a country in which 80%+ of the people are heavily FOR the European Union, heavily FOR increased European Federalization and so forth. All of the political parties here (that are in power) are Pro-EU, pro-NATO, anti-Russia, the socialists and the liberals alike. Back in the day, they could only steal Romanian money, now they can milk the EU funds as well through illicit contracts and whatnot.
PSD (socialists) are center-right because they pandered with the Orthodox Church for quite some time (85% of Romanians are heavy Orthodox), which in turn has made them amend the Constitution in order to stipulate that marriage is an act between a man and a woman, literally destroying every inch of LGBT interference in this country. Also, their economical reforms have targeted a large chunk of electorate that was considered to be liberal before (doctors, army, teachers etc) - as I've said, all of this is done in order to gather electoral support, not because of a particular ideology. PSD, as the rest of the (((right))) liberal parties, are nothing less but Bruxelles lapdogs. Same goes for our President, Klaus Iohannis, an ultra-liberal figure that always talks about multiculturalism, increased federalization of the European Union etc.
>right wing party Romania ever had in charge was PDLThat's only because Basescu was an actual nationalist, corruption aside mind you. I will always have the utmost respect for the eternal sailor and the way he used to stomp Putin in public declarations. But let's not forget that PDL was an offshoot of the socialists themselves that tried to re-brand back in the 2000s, under Stolojan.
