Why should my vote hold the same weight as one who would rather spend his day laying on his couch watching basketball, and has never read a book in his life; one who's maximum amount of political insight is what he consumes from his television binges?

The main argument is that it allows for precedence to disallow votes and that would therefore lead to corruption (rather obviously.) I agree with your sentiments, but applying such a system to current democracies seems like a bad idea, and would simply give an increase in power to already power-hungry world leaders. If it was written into a constitution? Maybe, but you'd still have to be careful.

You would be correct, if said system disallowed voters based on some preconceived bias.

The following argument has been argued by people who believe as I almost regressively, however I think it makes plenty of sense:

If ones wishes to drive a car; one would have to apply for a license, attend driving lessons, ect.
There is also the Socratic Argument: If one were to assemble a crew to lead an expedition across the Atlantic Ocean; one would gather people experienced in sea navigation; not twenty people handpicked by an uninformed public.

There is no reason for arbitrary age restrictions for elections, children who can voluntarily sign up to vote should be eligible to do so (like around 6)

Obviously they will mostly vote along their parent's opinions but children are currently fucked in this system while seniors citizens have MASSIVE political sway, since they have nothing to do but vote

For every $1 spent on children by the government, $5 goes to services for senior citizens
