Limit threads to 100 posts before autosage. Disallow links to other threads in OPs. Autoban for putting in "edition". The only place that could skirt these could be /vg/ since it's in the name, but even then it would do them a lot of good to try to dispel what makes generals so shitty.
Generals develop a kind of inertia to them that just keeps them rolling through thick and thin. Hell a subject can just die off with no new real discussion/content and it's like a corpse continually rolling down a hill still after that initial shove. They get some insecurity that there need to be posts going just to keep a thread active and not falling off, and also hubris that if they have a fast thread that their own tribe is the only thing matters and they write their own rules and make up their own rituals and processes totally independent of the actual site rules. They form cliques and exclusionary packs depending on who knows these rules or who recognizes what kind of barely topical/no topical blogging or drama """"belongs""""" or not (hint: none of it does). All this shit is cancer and the site would be better for it to be killed off.
