You'll never live the dream everyone convinced you that you would have. You were told as a child that no matter what, prince charming will come along and sweep you off your feet. It's been 18 years and that's still never happened. In middle school, there was a boy you were head over heels for. Even though you were the ugliest girl in school, he'd still be kind enough to flash you a charming smile occasionally. Even though you were a loser with no friends, he still remembered your name. But that wasn't because he liked you. He was kind to everyone. You knew that fact, and yet still fell in love with that boy. That boy in particular was amongst the popular crowd. Plenty of girls flocked towards him, while all the other guys admired him. You knew it was hopeless, but your heart refused to listen to logic. Day after day, all you could do was watch from a distance. You'd only get picked on twice as much if you tried to get any closer. Day after day, that distance subtly grew farther apart. Eventually, he would disappear when he began dating the beautiful girl who picked on you the most. It's okay. As long as he's happy, it doesn't matter. It was pointless from the start anyway.
Well, maybe high school would be different, right? There'd be plenty of more fish in the sea. Yet among all those fish, you were still alone. Cold and dark as you drifted further towards the bottom of the ocean. There was nothing left to live for anymore. At that very moment, however, a hand reached out in your direction. He pulled you from the darkest depths of hell and breathed life back into your soul. He wasn't very attractive, but that didn't matter. He had an amazing personality after all. They'd laugh at eachother's jokes until they couldn't breath. They hung out often, doing a bunch of crazy fun things together. They'd talk and share stories while gazing up at the stars above. He was the only friend you had, but that didn't matter. Being with him was like constantly being on cloud nine.
