4chan has grown beyond its anime site origins, now people find the site through many more ways. You can go on some boards now and almost never, perhaps not at all even see any anime.
With news of a lot of the shit that happened on /b/ and /r9k/ (especially the raids) making its way onto other platforms, more people decided they wanted in.
When they arrive, they are often disappointed to find no raids or happenings in the catalog and large amounts of anime in its place.
Most leave back to their original platforms at this point but some will stay on. They typically struggle to comprehend the amount of anime and will often sperg a little about it. A prime example of this would be the current wave of frogposting.
Eventually one of a few things will happen:
1) They migrate to a board with less or no anime like /sp/, /pol/ or /wg/.
2) They realise anime has its place here and even if they don't personally like it, they respect and accept the way it is.
3) They continue to sperg, much to the dismay of everyone around them, until eventually they give up and go back.
4) They not only accept anime but get so exposed to it that they actually begin watching it, although in perfect tsun fashion they may still deny it
5) They go and fuck horses instead
