As far as passive thinking, I guess my explanation won't be the best right now, but I'll try. It's really in the name. You kind of just accept things how they are and think reactively instead of proactively. It means you're not really thinking about things beyond just kind of processing them. Like I said, it's an easy habit to fall into, but it's not a good one because it means you're not criticizing your own thoughts or the information you take in.
