I've been wanting to give school a go for a while now but never got the chance because of work, but it feels like the stars have ligned up. I'm willing to put the work and develop healthy study habits but school is something totally out of my element and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. The only thing holding me back debt that I'll have to take on for the first year (fafsa deadline is long gone) and failing out. Any advice is welcome bros

My ultimate dream is to be an expert at my field (3D printing and generative design) and love doing what I do. I am going into my fourth year of uni now so I'm trying to spend the summer learning more 3D modeling softwares and the like.

Also learning Spanish and want to learn Mandarin since that's where the world is headed.

Yeah that's actually a great plan. Buckle down and take care of a lot of core curriculum classes at CC as well. That way when you finally do go to a University you can focus purely on your major path and take a relatively low credit load.
I would also recommend going to professors and asking them to work in their lab as an undergraduate research assistant. Even if you get turned down it will give you a chance to network and build relationships with them for later on down the road when they may have an opportunity for you to work with them.
College/University is not hard, all it requires of you is to apply yourself to your studies, and not be a total shitbag like 80% of your peers will be. Seriously, show up to class, do all of your homework, and go to office hours. Just doing those three things will all but guarantee you a passing grade in 90% of undergrad classes.

I used to think that breakthroughs and other big "turning points" in people's lives were just memes/things that people said. But holy fuck, I feel like I actually have a good sense of who I am for the first time in a LONG time. (Well, maybe not a "good" sense, but if I was at like 10% clarity before, then I'm at 45% clarity now, which I'll take)

Two takeaways for other /sig/gers:
1) Unless you are pretty sure you're autistic (i.e. interest in trains/etc.; bad theory-of-mind; etc.), perhaps *you* aren't the autist of your family.

Sounded like too much of a blogpost, my point with the first one was that I need to go even more minimalist than I already am. I'm 18 and feel attractive for the first time in my life. I've been lifting for only a year, put on like 10kg of pure muscle. I was always the lanky kid in school, and then I just blew up from like 75kg to 90kg (6'3"). I've been thinking about making a career change into hypnotist/hypnotherapist but unsure due to how drastic that could be and what potential failure could look like, less intimating then a therapist but better then a bartender . Going back to school in a few days after five years of chaos, depression and NEETdom. Also moved into a temporary living situation with two student types and I feel lost. Like a huge sadness and loneliness is hanging over me even though there's people around (and even though I got a girlfriend, though she's stuck in depression). My hygiene is pretty clean, shower every day with bar soap, shave every day etc., don't use any shower gels or the like. With the girlfriend; she usually chooses to wallow in it when the depression hits. Honestly I'm upset since we were set to spend time together this weekend (there's a boxing event I'm partaking in that she cancelled out of); feels like she's not there to support me, but at the same time I don't want to be needy like that and want to be an independent man not reliant on a partner to feel alright.

Kind of a mess still really.

how long did you try it for, it's very medically valid but the harvard trial for example used about 30 minutes per day for 8 weeks, as for the warm room I know that pain, consider buying a gel insert and some cheap reusable ice packs (with gel filling) I place them on my mattress and pillow about 30 mins before i go to bed and it's much nicer as for the girlfriend consider looking at what you gain and what she gains, you shouldn't remain in a relationship just because you feel you have to but obviously that's easier said than done

Life is pretty good. I got a job that pays me very well and I'm now making more money than everyone in my family at 23. I also start graduate school in a few weeks so hopefully I can balance the two.

Just remember though, you may be single for a while and it's gonna last exactly as long as you take to stop wallowing in your breakup, should you choose this route.

I'd recommend having a heart to heart about how you feel like you aren't being supported. See what she says and think on it. If she's confrontational about that, then you know what you need to do.

But I've always been a "look for marriage material" type. I think about how life would be if I felt that exact same way 10-15 years from now with the same woman. Can you handle a lifelong lack of support and dealing with depression? Because you will have to, people like that don't change.

I cannot find a job no matter how hard I try. I even get turned down from fast food joints and entry level shit like restaurant dishwasher/barback. It's not even that my area lacks jobs, I just can't get an interview. I'm assuming the main culprit is the 5 year time-gap in my resume. After I got my associates degree, my dad almost died in what was supposed to be a routine surgery and he didn't have the money for a live-in nurse and my mom has MS, so she's not in shape to take care of him either. I spent 5 years helping him until he got to the point where he was able to live on his own again, but that time gap looks terrible in my resume and I never get the opportunity to explain it in an interview.

Another reason I've been considering the military is for the training and free college, my parents spent all their money putting my sister through Med School, and she still has $80k in debt with 1 year to go. I really don't want to graduate from a program and then spend years paying it off.

My main goals have been to find a job, to get in better shape (I'm down almost 70 lbs from last year), get my run times lower (currently at 7:30/mile). My parents are also to the point of forcing me out of the house, even to go as far as forcing me into homelessness because it will "help me get my life together". They also don't understand why I can't find a job and treat me as if I'm lazy and don't want a job.

Is military a good idea for me? I scored 97th percentile on the ASVAB, so they told me I can do anything.

Start by evaluating your skills as objectively as possible. A good help could be the Myers-Briggs Personality Test (you can do it for free online) - that should give you a rough direction. From there, find something that you could see yourself doing a few years down the line and start working towards it. This may mean taking some risks and accepting some setbacks, but will ultimately lead to a better life.

25 year old male here. It's now been a year since I started being serious about improving myself.
Over the last year I have made great progress.
I went from fat smoking, day drinking slob that played video games all day, to a healthy, athletic man in absolute physical peak condition (thanks to boxing).
Not quite at my desired physique yet, but I'm literally weeks away from achieving that goal.
I am not letting others push me around anymore, I have become physically and mentally strong enough to deal with anything it feels like.

An encounter I made half a year ago finally shook me awake in regards of pursuing girls, I vowed to lose my virginity until the end of the year, I managed to do it a few months later, it was fun, the girl was even quite pretty (fucked that up later, but no use crying over spilled milk).
still got some work to do in that area obviously, I have a lot of catching up to do in terms of experience, but I am quick at picking things up on my own, confident I can achieve normalcy within a relatively short time.
The strides I have made within just a few months were unimaginable to the me 1 year ago.
I'll manage. But this is historically a big issue for me obviously.

I'm about to drop out of University. I have wasted a lot of time on a field I am not good at, nor desire to work in. My parents don't know, my friends don't know, they are all thinking I must be just about done with this shit. Not quite sure how I'll deal with the social situation.
The more pressing matter is that soon I will be a 25 year old with nothing other than a high school diploma and a bunch of samey unfinished degrees. No fucking clue what my future holds for me, but it's not looking to rosy in this regard.
Biggest problem right now, and also the one I am most prone to avoiding. It's scary.

I just hope I'll be even stronger and better one year from now. I just wanted to draw a bottom line for my journey so far, sorry for blogpost.

I don't do all of them every time, i usually do what feels more effective at that time.
Also, i don't have a lot of space in my house and i don't have any equipment, so things like pull ups/chin ups are not things that i can do very often.
As for some excercises, i fill a backpack with books and stuff and basically use that as free weight.
Also, i don't really know if it counts for anything, but i usually do some shadow boxing too.
I tried to do stuff like deadlifts but i can't seem to get the right form with the improvised equipment i've got.

I finally got a real job as an apprentice plumber. All the dudes in my crew are cool and salt of the earth guys. We're getting along well, i think they like me.

I'm feeling more comfortable at my martial arts gym. The guys I train with are real cool and smoke weed and we get pretty stoked for each other for pulling off cool moves in rolling and sparring.

I've been working out a bit and I look good without a shirt.

What a waste but that's that. 90% of it is shit my fucking parents give me that I never even wanted. Tired of it filling up my closet. It's a marathon, not a sprint, just like life. Aka it's a lifestyle change, it will take time, don't get discouraged, and even when you do, get back on the horse. A) you can probably fix your mental illness with a healthy diet, exercise, regular sleep nschedule and not moping around all day AKA using your time wisely aka making a daily/weekly calendar/timesheet of stuff to fill your days and B) you are probably not that ugly and just have a warped self perception. Next time you are laughing at something, go look in the mirror. A real smile is never ugly on someone, it makes them beam. So, laugh and smile more.

Mental illness if it is as severe as mine can only be solved with medication. It took me 5 years till I found medicine to feel normal. When I got on my current medication I thought something was wrong cuz I felt too good. Its prolly cuz I have never felt good or 'normal'.

If you don't mind, can you say what conditions you had? I've had depression and bpd and asocial personality disorder my whole life but they went diagnosed until I got a full time job and saw a doctor for the first time since I was a toddler.
