The anesthesia used in an epidural does not enter the blood stream in any measurable quantity. This means baby is not drugged, and mom experiences no change in consiousness. It just makes mom incapable of feeling anything from the waist down. Which, if you have ever watched somone give birth, is almost a necessity. If a woman wants to go all natural, more power to her. For something that has no effect on baby, almost zero side effects, and takes away the pain of being nearly torn in half from the inside, i think the word “degenerate” is pretty far from the mark. If the anon in this thread is telling the truth about his wife having back pain a year later, that doctor fucked up, my daughter is 8 weeks old and my wife has no lasting pain whatsoever.
