also if live in city then there is just lots of concrete and decent people usually have relatively clean footwear and will also rub them on the outside carpet before entering the home.
I mean its just not a big deal generally unless you're over sensitive oh my god he might bring in a few dirt particles or something which will mix with the dust that needs to be cleaned regularly anyway oy vey so scary

that said I know people who ask to take off the footwear before you go in... also if you live in rural area and there is mud or mud because of rain then yeah people usually take them off so obviously don't bring mud in but again its all situational in a clean area in a concrete jungle and with wood floors some people just don't care and honestly theres probably not much threat from it doing anything bad to you or you noticing anything different experience in your life because of it.... no big deal
