>process engineerGermans excel at over-engineering at a cost. Good quality robust bulletproof equipment, very well designed layouts, expensive as hell. Americans are all about being cost effective and focus on minimizing spend but still accomplishing goals. Germans focus on building the best things they can and sacrificing cost to do so.
Neither approach is "the best" necessarily depending on what the business is trying to accomplish, however, older German chemical facilities are almost like functional works of art compared to their American counterparts.
I respect the German approach, but Goddamn can they be stubborn and full of themselves.
