>>634703I've heard Nas and biggies albums a long with wutang, company flow many other rappers from the 90s, also with the modern underground, i.e. Aesop Rock, Pro era, MF DOOM boom nap revivalism type stuff and meme grips if they count. I was being a dock but my point was in that post there's nothing to get about hip hop, if someone doesn't like it now they're not likely going to in a few years. And I do enjoy some of the lyrics but that's where the pleasure comes for me, not really a big Nas or Biggie fan honestly, I do enjoy Doom. The thing I find is musically there's very shallow interest, I was classically trained on piano from a young age and took lessons and drums since I was 13, so the way I view music and rhythm is different and it's easy for hip hop and most rap to bore the shit out of me.
Some rappers find ways to accent certain notes that aren't being accented by the drums which is cool because it actually gives the rhythm some versatility. But even with a lot of good hyper lyrical rappers, I just think, "yeah this guys saying cool stuff, but I'm not really getting musical enjoyment out of this, kinda more poetic"
