But Nintendo knows that there's a retro gaming audience they can make money from, while Sony knows that even the PS1, their oldest console, still isn't old enough (and sold enough copies) for there to be so little PS1's left in the world that they can re-release it and make profits a second time around.
Nintendo can do that because there are fuck all SNES's and NES's around (at least going up for sale anyway) but the demand for these old consoles has been going up in recent years, mainly due to the emulation community. Even my own N64 stopped working a few months ago. That's one less N64 console in the world. But I still like playing N64 games. And so, I guess Nintendo feels there's money to be made.
