Just a side note: to a certain degree the concept of the narcostate is true, but mostly only in the northern part of the country.
The north is just a huge forlorn desert and it was damned since the foundation of its first colonies because they actively segregated the indians and therefore developed an americana-like culture based on junk food, bbq's and folkloric music.
The center and center-west is a cultural melting pot and got the best out of the indigenous and the western culture.
The south never got entirely civilized, hence why the indigenous people developed a culture of corruption, since it was the easiest way to get higher into the social pyramid.
