Honestly though I'm at that point where I'm beyond actually panicking and I can't help but just laugh at how fucked the situation is. Anyone else been in a situation where they felt like that?

Fork over a few hundred dollars, send it to a data recovery center. It's not lost, can essentially guarantee it's all recoverable.

Although I just realized all my hentai is gone as well. I had a collection spanning 13 years back to when I was just a wee lad of barely 12 years who'd only just begun to waggle his willy. Feels like I just lost a part of my childhood desu senpai.

So you're assuming it's software related then? Because most hard drive failures are hardware related, very unlikely that would work for OP if the drive is no longer showing up.
