Im not sure about that. I would like to think we would have come to terms with the fact that we blindly jumped into war against an enemy who knew their shit.

Not so sure. Most people would agree involvement was a mistake (in fact, most people believed that during the conflict), but whether the war was lost or not is something else. Most americans would tell you the war was 'inconclusive", as if it meant anything, and refuse to call it a loss.

There is some truth to that claim. Those ones living in remote villages in the boonies weren't that much influenced by the propaganda than people in the cities and larger town-like communities. Politics reached those country places later. At that time the most of them had no clue what's going on.
