As far as people go, Germans are autistic robots that will never be friendly even after years of knowing you. Canadians are far nicer, open minded and friendly
Language wise Canada wins hands down, they all speak English and often understand French (French probably doesn't interest you though). Germans speak broken English when they speak it, sometimes they only understand German and are anal about pronunciation (even in big cities like Berlin I had cops not understanding me)
