nice digits. I've always wondered where the extra mass supposedly comes from. When you do small morphs your mass gets pushed into Z-space, fine, but when you do big morphs you apparently pull mass from Z-space? Which is nothing. It never made much sense to me.

Basically all the morphs they have are stored in Z-space. It's more net transfer than anything. They basically trade out masses to take the form of whatever they're taking. How touching something lets them clone it into a mature and physically identical life form to whatever it is and how those alternative forms heal and replace the mass lost when sustaining injuries is another question, but it was sci-fi for 12 year olds so what are you gonna do about it.

the photoshop things were just there to help sell the books (it worked, too). The story is actually really engaging for a kid's sci-fi series, it gets surprisingly brutal at times too, like the one where Tobias is captured and tortured until his mind almost breaks.
