But it is, even though we always mix some words from the french and italian in it. Saying "Merci", "Grüezi", "Ade!" is common, but we also don't say "Brieftasche" (wallet), rather "Portemonnaie".
Often, germans who come here can't comprehend the way we speak, so it's pretty annoying to repeat everything we tell them in high german. That's one reason the people here don't like germans too much.
