I liked the stealth parts but I will admit the puzzle box was dumb.

All of the sliding puzzles in that game were dumb.

I mostly liked hanging out as a monkey in the bank by the zoo with my friends.

I never understood why people hated on the GE.

I liked it because it was an easy way to sell shit without sitting in a bank for hours or trolling forums.

What I hated most was when Barrows got upstaged as best equipment. Fuck Godswords and that shit.

That entire quest line was way too overcomplicated. By the time of Mourning's End Part 2 I had no idea where the story was and was so frustrated by that stupid temple of light puzzle that I was just doing it so I could get it done.

Seriously that entire quest series was like 11 quests.

Because it was "cozy" to have people trade in soft-centralized ways instead of coded-centralized ways. And it was, too. But the GE was the best thing that ever happened to RS despite all that, nostalgiafags notwithstanding.

RS was always a community-oriented game. You were required to interact with people directly if you wanted to trade or price check and whatnot.

The GE cut the entire economy out of the community's hands and just made it a stock market where people did pump-and-dump ponzi schemes by scamming hundreds of players at a time and manipulating prices in the process.

Plus they regulated item values with it. For like 2 years you couldnt give things away to people or have any form of a barter system.

Community was everything in RS because levelling skills was just a grind. They made the grind the focus and it stopped being immersive.

I dunno, I had my share of friends from my clan, and we still had a lot of fun doing quests and grinding together. I feel like the loss of a community free market never really affected me.

I was honestly one of those kids that started playing during RSC, and I don't think I ever really achieved much in the game.

Did a lot of quests and got to a decent level, but never any 99's.

Makes me want to go back.
