When talking about Indian history I'm basically talking about India and all the eras they have gone through. Its actually a colossal amount of events, people, wars etc. and I was kinda prepared for that, but the sheer amount of it all is a bit overwhelming. The fact that its in English doesn't help much either. But I still want to at least try to finish it as Indian history is like a black hole to me, I know very little about it. And it will be regrettable to miss out on a culture this rich. The other one is in Russian and is significantly easier and more fun to read.
I believe that wars have changed for a number of reasons. Firsly, the cost of human life has skyrocketed since the begining of the XX century. Back then people could be tossed at the enemy troops without a second thought. Now its far more expensive, at least in 1st wold countries. Secondly, wars are no longer about territory (in most cases), its just no longer profitable to waste resources conquering land. It can be done much more efficiently via political or economical means. Take a look at Germany, for example. Right now its exanding mostly through investment and its doing quite fine. Of course, some issues can be resolved only through military operations, but its incredibly expensive right now.
