Yeah. I started around 1.4 or so, and stayed in touch just long enough to try Condition Zero and CS:Source and look down on them.
Used to play on UK servers a lot, since they pinged well (below 100 on a good day), had lots of people playing while still having room (unlike local servers) and people spoke English.
American servers had the best mods, though, to the point where it was worth the crappy ping if I could go online at a time when people were playing.
But the best times were had at internet cafes and on hijacked school computers.
