Well lots of things anon. Proper technique is important. Keep your wrist straight and don't try to flick it. When you release follow through and just open your hand to let it go. The axe will do most of the work. Remember to step with the foot opposite of your dominant hand EVERY TIME. If you're getting mostly head step back to give it more time to rotate or speed up your motion to force more rotation. If you just need a little more rotation step larger.
Knives are the hardest. Fuck that noise.

No problem. If I can get some videos of me teaching I'll post them up here so you can get an idea of the technique. It's really not about strength. Think of it like playing darts only you're gripping something.
I also teach javelin, stars, tomahawk, knives, double headed, combat axe, combat cards, 2 handed axes and combat shovel in case you're interested.
