>>6882110One way I make a little extra cash over the summer is by spending the early-spring taking cuttings from my crassula tetragona plants, getting them to grow roots, letting them grow a bit taller, cutting away lower branches, and over time shaping them into small bonsai succulent plants.
By the time it gets to summer, they're generally big enough to sell for about $5 - $10 each. You can propagate this species of plant very easily, and it's very easy to get lots of them in a short amount of time by doing this. I made hundreds and hundreds of dollars in just a few months last year by doing this, and I was only really doing it quite passively, just as a side-project.
Note: making them into bonsai plants tends to make them more attractive to the average person. There has been a surge of interest and curiosity in recent years surrounding bonsai plants, and most people are either too inept or too impatient to make a bonsai plant themselves. But a lot of people are happy to buy them.
It's way too easy, honestly.
Pic related. That's what they look like (but only if you shape them into a bonsai. Otherwise they grow like a bush). This isn't one of mine by the way, I just don't have any good photos of any of mine. I'd estimate this one to be no more than 30 centimetres tall though. They take on a "tree" shape quite quickly (again, only if you prune them like that though).
